Cindy, just wnted to give you an update on the pups! Emma is doing great, like i had said she has passed and receied her Canine Good Citizen certificate and is working towards her therapy certificate. Chumley is also doing well. he has just passed up Emma and is now taller than her. He still has a lot of puppy in him and enjoys chewing anything wood he can find, including our coffee table and footboard unfortunetly lol. He is still hasnt begun to fill out yet so I'm sure he will be quite large. We are guessing that Emma is around 130ish and Chum is reall close at 120 were guessing at 8 months. I will be sending pictures of them in their halloween costumes soon!

HI TO ALL!! I wanted to share with all you information regarding pet health insurance.  It's a great investment when owning a pet; especially a mastiff.  I recently upgraded my Bubba's policy to their best policy; the Gold Package.  Its only $111 per month with a $50 deductible and 100% reimbursment!! Other pet insurance didn't offer me such great benefits as Petplan.  This is how it works.....depending on your policy

Recently I took Bubba to the vet and the bill was $500.  I paid the vet bill at the time of the visit and submitted the claim form with a copy of the receipt. (I ususally have the vet's receptionist do that part)  WITHIN 2 WEEKS (sometimes sooner) I received a check in the mail for $450!!  I signed up for a policy that offers 100% reimbursement minus my $50 deductible.

Before pet insurance, I would have been out of $500.  Now if Bubba gets sick or hurt, I just submit a claim and I get my money back.  All I'm out of in the end is my $50 deductible.  It's really a great investment.  Visit them online for more information.  www.petplan.com or call them at (866)467-3875.  My Bubba is quite the little menace.  He's always eating the darnest things and that would cost me lots at the vet.  Having insurance saves me now!

Hi Tammi

The pressure soars are pretty common.. my Dalila is starting to develop them as well.. Bubba is pretty big... if he don't chew anymore you could try giving him a big doggie bed..something softer then the floor to lay on.

Hey Cindy, I have a question for you.  I'm aware large dogs like our Mastiffs develop those black pads on their elbows after a while.  I noticed Bubba is forming one on his elbow.  Is there something I should put on his elbows and knees now or simply allow the pads to form?  I was shocked to see it because he's only 11 months old and I didn't think he was that heavy yet.  What should I do?

Wow Bubba was the runt? LOL   So jumping is bad? Ok, I'll keep that in mind because he's quite the little jumper.  I don't want to have any injuries to his joints so I'll put a lid on the jumping ASAP the taller he gets however, he's pretty clumsy! He knocks over everything in the house.  I'll watch his weight carefully too.  What's the "average" weight of a 10 month old? The internet makes it seem as if he should be a BEAST by now. But I want to keep him healthy and lean until its time for him to get his BIG Mastiff body. I just don't want to make any dietary mistakes at this point with Bubba getting so tall so fast. I'll keep you posted.

Wow Tammi

That is tall for his age.. make sure he does not get to heavy right now.. those muscles need to stay caught up with the bone growth.. and don't let him do a lot of jumping if any.. he is going to be a big boy... and to think he was the smallest male of that litter... I will have to find out how big the other boys are from that litter... Thanks for the update.

I looked through the pictures on your site and Vanessa and I saw Diesel!! Bubba does look like him! I've never seen many brindles like them.  I'm glad you think he's looking good. He tends to look so skinny some days and I get a little worried.  He's almost 32 inches to the shoulder now! We haven't weighed him lately; he's afreaid of the scale at the vet  LOL

Hi Laura, I'm happy to hear your Lily is doing well with Blue Buffalo.  Unfortuantely, my dog (Bubba) didn't have such a good experience.  He was 3 months old when we started to notice his diarrhea. I just thought it was because we changed him to a new food.  By the time he was turning 4 months old, his shaking limbs began.  That's when we got worried.  I rushed him to the emergency vet and they asked us about his diet and other questions.  At that time we were informed he wasn't responding well to the food!  I had no idea that would happen! I was told it was just too rich for his digestive system.  So when I spoke to Cindy, she told me what to do and after a couple of weeks, he went back to normal.  But if Lily is doing well, that's great!! Keep up the good work.  Bubba is doing great these days, you can see his pics in the guestbook!
